DynaMotor

As an assignment for my Business Law for Engineers class, we were tasked with creating a product and respective provisional patent that would not infringe on any prior art, maintaining a useful and novel nature.

My partner Josh Amauro and I both have an inclination for skateboarding and focused on this field in which to innovate. After doing our preliminary patent research through Google Patents and the USPTO database, we settled on a dynamo attachment for skateboards that couples onto one of the trucks. This dynamo is driven through the frictional contact along the inside of a skateboard wheel. While regenerative braking technology exists within the electric skateboard world, it has yet to be applied to the classic model. Here, you can attach the device to any skateboard truck using the deflecting coupler. The motion is then driven through the kinetic energy of the pushed skateboard which in turn charges the rider’s personal electronic device, most notably phone. Longboards and skateboards are becoming an increasingly popular option for personal transportation within cities and towns. The DynaMotor gives the option to always have a power source in the scenario that your device is low on battery during your cruise.
